Data You Give Us Directly
Search Queries
A name or place entered in a search tool is sent directly to the outside provider that operates the search. That provider processes the query and supplies its results. Pecos County Criminal History does not retain or record those search terms on its own systems.
Messages and Contact Submissions
We retain an email or contact message when needed to answer it. The message remains within our organization unless disclosure is required by a legal obligation.
Data We Gather Automatically
When a visitor loads a page, the site's systems automatically receive certain technical information:
- Page-view dates and times
- Your device's assigned IP address
- The referring website, when one is available
- Browser name and version
- Operating system and device category
- Pages viewed and the time spent on them
Cookies and Analytics
Cookies are small files placed on a device. We use them with analytics services to understand traffic in aggregate, such as which pages receive visits and where visitors leave. You can block cookies through your browser settings, although doing so may change how some website functions behave.
What We Do With This Data
- Route a search request to the appropriate partner service
- Maintain reliable operation and page-loading performance
- Identify and correct technical problems
- Assess which content visitors use and where improvements are needed
- Present advertising that may reflect a visitor's interests
No Criminal-Record Data on File
Pecos County Criminal History does not keep, assemble, or sell a database of personal criminal-record information. It provides general directions to records held by the Pecos County Sheriff's Department, local criminal courts, the Texas Department of Public Safety Crime Records Division, and the Texas Public Sex Offender Registry. Public access and dissemination by those government custodians are subject to laws including the Texas Public Information Act, Government Code Chapter 552, and the criminal-history provisions of Government Code Chapter 411. We are not a consumer reporting agency under the Fair Credit Reporting Act, and visitor information is not compiled into consumer reports or third-party criminal records.
Third-Party Search Partners
Outside companies operate the website's search boxes. Information submitted there is handled under the selected partner's privacy policy rather than this policy. Each partner controls its own retention and disclosure practices. Review those terms before running a search.
Links to Other Websites
Links may lead to Pecos County offices, Texas court portals, state agencies, legal-aid resources, or outside search services. Once you follow an external link, the destination's privacy policy applies. Check that policy before providing personal information.
Some advertising providers may use their own systems to follow activity across websites and select targeted advertisements. We do not operate that tracking.
Who Might See Your Data
We do not sell personal information. Data may be available to these limited recipients:
- Analytics providers that measure website use and performance
- Search partners that process a query you submit
- Advertising networks that serve ads on the website
- Government or law-enforcement authorities acting under a valid legal order
How We Protect Your Data
We use standard security measures to protect information in our care. No internet-connected system is completely secure, however, so we cannot guarantee that a breach will never occur.
Users Under 18
The website is intended for adults and does not knowingly collect personal information from anyone younger than 18. If we learn that a minor supplied such information, we will delete it.
Your Data Rights
When it applies, the Texas Data Privacy and Security Act, Business & Commerce Code Chapter 541, may provide additional rights concerning personal data. The scope of any statutory right depends on the law and its exemptions. Under this policy, you can:
- Request access to information we hold about you
- Ask us to correct inaccurate information
- Ask that your data be deleted
- Opt out of some forms of data processing
Updates to This Policy
This policy may be revised in the future. Any revision will appear here with an updated effective date, so visitors can review the current description of our privacy practices.
Effective date: August 9, 2026
